Read "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir and loved it. In a way, I loved it even more than the Martian. But I won't tell you why until you read this book too.
About the Book: Strange alien life is growing right on our sun, making it dimmer. Which has sent our climate change the opposite direction, into an ice age, rapidly. Very rapidly. To a point where the most powerful people on Earth had to gather all the brightest minds for a hurried yet absolutely vital mission. They each get a one-way ticket to space, to find how to fight this and send it back. Send it back before they die. Or the whole of humanity goes extinct. The only problem with this, other than Earth being at stake is that... Ryland Grace wakes up in the spaceship alone.
My Opinion: Beautiful pacing, perfect tension at all times. Twists, turns, unexpected events, unexpected decisions, lots and LOTS of doubt. Well written sassy characters and a very good story. If you enjoyed Martian, but Artemis wasn't to your liking, this is more like Martian. A tale of survival despite the odds.
A damn good book. Solid 5 out of 5.
